This has nothing to do with Myst...I just wanted to post it someplace. It was part of my input to Honeybuns' Parlour. She had asked for a body of water, and thoughts on the choice...so here is what I came up with.
(This thread isn't just for my babblings...if you have something you want to post under this thread, you're more than welcome!)
My entire life has been spent in, on, under, and around the grandest ocean on this earth! I cannot imagine myself being anywhere else, but near her. She is the largest, deepest, and most beautiful ocean. She commands respect, as I have found while serving onboard a survey ship on her northern reaches. Her vastness only serves to reinforce one's miniscule thumbprint on this planet. Storms can bring on a rage in her that has taken many a sailor and ship to her darkened depths, while at the same time, her warm and soothing waters calmly embrace others. She is warm and tropical. She is cold and frigid. She brings life to the lands that surround her, and harbors life within her. She lays herself out, so that we may traverse her to distant lands. She carries our wants and needs across many miles, by allowing our ships to sail on her. She carries our message in a fragile bottle to destinations unknown.
Beneath her waves, lies many untold secrets, which captivate our minds and hearts, and draws many to explore her. As a diver, I have found solace, as well as fear, while suspended in her waters. She brings inspiration to many; the sailor, the fisherman, the poet, and the artist. She willingly accepts the bad with the good, by accepting and embracing those who have lost their lives in times of war. She has seen the birth of many lands since her own birth; and has watched as we, her own children, evolved into what we are today.
