Trip To Mars

This is a link to a web site I did from the story the forumites wrote on the Ubisoft forum. It's heavy on graphics for people with a dial-up connection. If you get a "page not found" error, hit refresh and it will load.
Yeah...one would think with the graphics and all that text...that it would be huge! I know when I made my 'test' website...I thought for sure it was going to be close to my free space limit...but didn't even put a dent in the total 5 MB limit!
How did you create the website? Did you use Word to convert everything over to HTML? Or did you use a program like Front Page? Just curious...as I still need to create my other website...

Fall
I used MS Word completely. I had to save each section separately, and that added a separate folder for the images for each page. I chose "Save as Web Page" from the file menu when I was finished. Then I used the Web Page Wizard, part of Windows 98 SE, to upload the files.

Thanks for the info Anne! I use MS Word 2000 also! Didn't realize you could convert and upload from it! Will have to check it out!
What version of Windows do you have? If you go to Windows Setup, and look at Internet Tools, it is called Web Publishing Wizard. It goes on the Start Menu in a folder called Internet Explorer. Just be sure not to include your Page Name when it asks for the name of your web server. Prodigy gives members 10 additional identities and each one gets a web site. I created one called Adventures. When the wizard asked for the web server, I told it pages.prodigy.net/adventures, then my user name was adventures. That's how I have the word adventures twice in the url. I found out afterward that the web server is pages.prodigy.net, but I decided not to change it. If I want to do another Adventure, I can put it on the same site in a different directory. I really learned a lot from doing this.
Hi Anne! Sorry I didn't see your post here...until now! I use Windows Me...my computer came with it, and the MS Word 2K. I made the "Start Here" pages (on certain other forum) using the Word program...but have been told recently that they were redone entirely by certain other admin there... ... oh-well, it was worth the try, I think.
Now I'll just have to experiment with FrontPage, GoLive, and Dreamweaver.
edit: Did I read correctly (somewhere else) that you have done an update to the Trip To Mars website? Should I go back in and check it out? :o)

No, I haven't done any updates - not since you saw it. I sent Trucker the url, then had a problem and deleted the whole site - while he was trying to look at it. After I uploaded it again, I haven't made any changes.
I missed any "Start Here" on any other forum, but I'll go back and look for it.
