Myst mini-series, Did it ever exist?

Shorah everyone, I had heard about a mini-series being made for cable TV about the Myst game. Was this a hoax, or was it shown?

Sci-fi had planned on doing a Myst mini-series, yes. However, last we heard, the project was on hold, and inferring from what RAWA had to say about efforts to get it rolling again, it's probably better if it dies (it had been said before by Cyan that the mini-series may end up canceled, and may not be as true to the universe as it ought to be. Given how poorly other efforts to outsource Myst's universe into other media have been at times (speaking primarilly of the DarkHorse Comics series), I'm not entirely surprised that the project drifted too far into left field.

There are a large number of factors involved such as production costs and locations, casting, and not to mention the ever present issue of the sci-fi channel itself and the mean spirited women that praises a show while signing cancellation orders for it at the same time.
I know the studio producing it has told people to contact the sci-fi channel requesting and asking about it.
Personally, I'd like to see Myst done on the same scale as Lord of the Rings or Gladiator or even the Merlin Mini Series from back in 2000.
I suppose if they do a film, it might focus around one of the Kings and a living D'Ni or events with the D'Ni in thier new home.
In the end, who knows?
