Good afternoon everyone.

Early this morning we had a script kiddie register-bomb DPWR with over 2000 new registrations in the space of about 30 minutes. While this in and of itself is not board-damaging, it is more than mildly annoying having to delete over 2000 blank registrations from the database.

If anyone who registered within the past couple of weeks is having trouble logging in, it is possible that your account was accidentally deleted, and you will need to log in again. If you've been here for quite a while, though, your account is still in the database.

In an effort to prevent this from happening again, I have added a hack to the regstration page which will hopefully keep this sort of registration bombing from happening in the future.

No problems. Everything is fine with me.

When I popped in, I usually check to see who else is on the board... there was a guest... earlier in the day. eyebrow.gif

Shorah Al, I had no trouble logging in just now. My troubles have been with my computer locking up every time I try to go on-line. Today was the first time I could do it in the past week! Sorry you got bombed... sad.gif

It is a creepy ... kind of a thing to happen...

It's kind spooked me.

There was a guest during the first time I replied to Fallstar's birthday. The time clock on the board says ... 1am something but my computer clock has a different time ... it was maybe about 9pm Ohio time.

Sorry to hear about your problems with this stupid script kiddie.... sad.gif Did you get an IP at all? If so, let me know what it is via email or something so I can note it for Mystcommunity.

I hate script kiddies..... bored.gif

He never posted, and so I wasn't able to get an IP off of him. Wish I could have though.

Jerle has been notified of the troll, and Cory was kind enough to point out to me that the troll in question was dumb enough to post as an unregistered member, thereby revealing his IP address. The address has been forwarded to Jerle, who has promised to pass it along to Chucker, along with my recommendation on installing the bomb prevention hack.

You could always make his/her life difficult by informing his service provider what a jerk he/she is...

Once I figure out how to determine his/her ISP from the IP address that was left, I intend to do so.

Wow! This is really strange! I'm glad you got ahold of their IP address...what a goofus!

edit: Is there a way to reset the 'Forum Statistics' at the bottom of the main page? It says we have over 2000 members! ipbblinky.gif

Once a new member registers it should reset the statistics. Until then, we've got a bunch of blank registrations.
