I'm sorry to start this forum off with a rant, but I was glad to see this Forum Topic!  I have Schizm, and I love it!  I was playing away, rather well, I thought, too!  Suddenly, I got to a puzzle that I just could NOT figure out the point of.  I mean, I had all the tools, and had gathered all the information I needed to solve it... just didn't know what 'it' was!

So, I finally asked a friend.  They asked me if I had seen the 'movie' of... well, I won't spoil it, but without the movie, you can't play.  So, I got a saved game, and carried on.

Well, it has just happened again!   confused.gif  I'm at a point where I know WHAT I could do, I just can't do it.  Again, I asked and found out that a movie isn't playing for me.

*sigh*

I had such high hopes for this game!  I'm really frustrated right now.  I have downloaded both patches for the game, but they both have to do with sound... argh!

biggrin.gif Thanks for reading!   tongue.gif

blankstare.gif Sorry...I just now got the chance to register...and had to make some adjustments to my profile info....

Hi Khatie (and CF)....Which version of the game do you have? CD or DVD?  The CD version (which I have) has a few 'movie' parts missing...that was intentional by the manufacturers so save from having to add more disks to the already loaded game.  I have checked the dreamcatcher.com site and also emailed with an author of a very good walkthrough.  Both seem to indicate that those missing pieces of video are not needed to actually progress or complete the game.  However...many of the walkthroughs out there are based on the DVD versions...so if you follow one of those, you won't be seeing some of the things mentioned.  I'm pretty sure that Al has played the DVD version himself...and I am still working on my game (slowly but surely).  If you have a specific question on the game...you can always message me on this forum, or send an email....and I can try to help you.

Two side-notes...

1) I do have the DVD, but I haven't finished the game yet.

2) The Messenger on the forum seems to be not working, so it'll be hard to message anyone until 6.0 goes live. (all the more reason to get 6.0 out the door soon, huh?)

I've read some pros and cons about Schizm. Those of you that have played, what do YOU think?   confused.gif   Pros out weigh the cons, or vise-a-verse-a?  Might be my next game until M4 shows up.   caffeine.gif

Hi everyone!

Thank you for your replies!  *waves at CF*

And, Fallstar, you may be right about why the CD didn't have the movies.  But, I have actually proceeded in the game, now, and I did it by just going to a different place... well... anyway, I moved ahead.

I did make sure that the walkthrough I used was for CD version.  I only wanted to be sure I was doing the prayer wheel puzzle the right way... and I was.  I just never saw or heard the priest, so there was no puzzle to 'solve' and entering the correct prayer did NOT work.  A saved game from a friend did work... and I've sworn I'll finish unaided now.

Homer - DEFINITELY worth it... I've played a lot of Myst Clones, and this one is the BEST.  Honestly.  I also have The Longest Journey waiting for me... but I haven't fired it up yet.  Has anyone played that one?

Also, an oldie but goodie is Lucasarts The Dig - you'll have to find a copy on Ebay though, it's VERY old... smile.gif

*runs off to finish Schizm*

Oh, and AL??  I need my 'blurp' smiley, please!

You have your blurp.gif smiley, you just have to look in the full list. smile.gif

Or did you mean :khatie: ?  If that's what you meant, I can fix that for you. smile.gif

Hi Khatie! *phew!* So glad you managed to get around the video problem!  It really had me stumped for so long, as well.  I haven't had a chance to get back to it myself.  But it really is a good 'side-trip' while waiting for the next Myst or Mudpie game!

Al...will we (or do we already) have spoiler tags to utilize for this section?

fall:)

Hmm... spoiler tags... right...

Uh... darnit, I forget how I did that last time... must go look again.  Should have them up by the end of the day.  I'll be testing them when I get it put together, so keep an eye on the Testing forum. smile.gif

haha! gotcha! biggrin.gif  I only remember there being a button for it, along with the other code buttons.  I guess for now...if needed...we can resort to either smoke signals or just some spoiler warnings...

....ummm...also...I just tried to use my winky smiley...but he didn't show up... sad.gif

biggrin.gif Glad to see Khatie has solved the game problem. Don't feel bad. I ran into that too. Homer: I vote that Schizm is worth playing. There was only one thing that I was dissapointed with, which I won't say since some people are still playing the game. See? I'm nice! wink.gif

A very late thanks, Khatie and karoh. I've read it is a very good game, and I heard it's a real pip.  I've fallen in love with what images I've seen, so for my birthday I just may have to order it from Amazon.

Riddle of the Sphnix is one I recommend. Beside the nice graphics, the puzzles are good and tech support was very good.  Used tech support in one room because of a glitch in the programming, but didn't keep from solving the game.

Hi Homer!

Yes...the images on Schizm are really very nice...and different...but I find myself comparing everything to the Myst series...especially Riven!  I have several other games lined up to play....if I ever finish this one!  :P

confused.gifI got a question: anyone know why Riven has never been made into a RealRiven game like Myst was? It would be great to be able to turn 360 degrees.  :eyepop:

The 360 degree is one nice thing about Riddle of The Sphnix. Or, click your mouse and you're back to normal viewing. One thing I find about 360 viewing, starts making my stomache complain; just like watching the boxcars of a train go by..

smile.gif I've heard quite a bit about The Riddle of the Sphinx" game. I've been thinking about getting it this summer. Are the puzzles hard?

Hi Guys  biggrin.gif

Khatie, I'm glad you managed to move on with your game, but what's strange is that I played and finished the CD version and the Priest appeared for me confused.gif

Homer, I enjoyed the game from beginning to end  cool.gif I would recommend it!

Al, did you have to start from scratch again with the forum

Anyway it's nice to be back...

Don't be so surprised, Joelle, it's not like it's anything new. tongue.gif

Yes, I did have to start the forum over, but it's not like I didn't try to restore it.  Didn't work tho... *grr*

It's getting better as we go though.... I just wish we could get some more D'ni-knowledgeable people over here so we can fill up the Archive.

Not to drag this thread completely off-topic, but I am working on that.  I think. smile.gif

Right now, it's just me and Ta'n, as well as Ro'J (who posts mostly in the Speculation forum).  We need some more Archivists!
