Ahnonay: A World of Time
A Look into this Deceptive World

Note: this may be a spoiler to some of you so please don't read it otherwise.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

When we first link to Ahnonay we find a world of strong currents, villages semmingly deserted in the distance and of course, what appears to be a clocktower in the center of the lake.

When we link through the second time, we find ourselves in a world with a sea of fog, ruins in the distance, storms all around and a damaged clock tower.

When we link through the third time we find the island drifting in space. Nothing but stars and the island. And of course a ruined clock tower.

We've seemed to have traveled through time. The Past on the First visit. The Present on the Second visit. And the Future on the Third visit. This is just what Kadish wanted you to belive. This world IS beautiful but deceptive.

THE TRUTH

The simularities between all three versions is that you traveled to/from them via Ahnonay's Passage Book and that there is a clock tower in all three versions.

That clock tower is actually a radar that detects living matter. Once you link to the Passage Age, and no more living matter is present, that signals the radar to change. Change what? Why the sphere you are in. There are four spheres in all. Most only seeing the first three however. The Spheres are aranged in a way similar to a farris wheel.

THE AGE

The actual Age is one big waterfall. Kadish's Quarters is actually located in on of the rocks clinging to this wall of water. The waterfall is more like a basin in shape. Also, Kadish's Quarters have a fantastic view of this and the facility.

THE FOURTH SPHERE

The Fourth Sphere was under cunstruction aparently near or during the Fall. What was built was amazing pathways suspended high above and the gigantic, though incomplete statue of Kadish.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I would have to say that I admire Kadish for his inginuity. I would have never dreamed up such an elaborate hoax to fool people. The structure and design are amazing. Even Kadish's simple quarters are a sight to see. It is a shame that the Fourth Sphere was not completed though. And thus closes a look into one of the most deceptive worlds in D'ni history.

For future reference, if you're going to post your opinions on a part of a Myst game, please put it in the game discussion forums smile.gif. I've moved this there already as well.

The Speculation and Theory forums are for discussion of cultural, historical, and technological elements of the Myst Universe which we don't have concrete answers for.

I would like to also note that I left out the maintainers area (offshore tower) for personal reasons. I did not want this documentry turning into a walkthrough.

I plan on doing more of these and I would like feedback.
Should I have included more? Was it a good or bad documentry? Should it be a walkthrough? etc. etc.

I like this Age too, but would miss the balcony on the edge of Kadish's quarters in URU Live because you can look directly at the sphere device, even watch it spin as a friend Links through! I really wish the 4th sphere was completed, and I know how to make so you're not praying to a false god: Finish up the place and redesign the exterior however you want it, even fly a plane inside! Now, convert the inside of the statue to an art museum with a studio up top in the head, and for the final touch, make a huge gold frame at the back, mount a searchlight behind it, stick a painting in the frame, then shine the lights out through Kadish's eyes through the dock hole, and a floating hologram of the frame will appear there. If any aircraft goes through it, they will be Linked to whatever Age the picture represents! Elaborate plan, no? This is just for my creative talent. Please, post a comment.

Please note the the clocktower is not a life monitor (as far as I know). Ahnonay is activated by pressure plates, but please let me know if I am wrong on this...
